Ipad security issues?

Okay,

The roomdawg is headed south for awhile. We were at Aafes getting her set back up with some home basics and wound up yakking awhile with the Apple Rep about some ipad gen2's he had marked down $100.

I understand the Smart Cover can compromise your ipad, but I seem to have a hard time finding Apple's stuff on their site for securing access during wifi use and all that nonsense.

We might be dropping a few c-notes next weekend, so it's those or a laptop. The home PC is a boat anchor, and I'm about to cancel my ISP at the house (9600 baud all day).

Neither of us are big gamers; we've still got some business getting off the ground here, so need to stay in touch. Also gives her a chance to Skype with her Mum in BC.

Mobility is nice, but security is mo' betta. Thanks for any tips or reading references. Been goin' blind as it is for the relo stuff.
