Rolled my 4Runner...
      03/30/12 04:28 PM

Pretty quiet on this board lately...
Here's something for you.

About a month after my "new" $50 rustolem paint job...

and 3 days after a new windshield replacement...

It all happened in slow motion. Once I felt it tip too far to the right, I simply grabbed the wheel, and tucked my elbows tight to my sides, and rode it down.

I have another windshield now, and am slowly fixing her up.

Next "mod" will obviously be an internal cage.

Things that happened:
My electric fuel pump worked as it is supposed to. Once rolled over, fuel pump stops sending fuel to the engine, and it shuts down.

Center console lid opened, and all the little stuff, like loose change, and spare fuses all ended up on the celeing. Not a big deal, just more cleanup.

My spare tire / hilift / and Co2 tank were ratchet strapped in the rear, and it held up just fine.

I have extended diff breathers, and lost just a little fluid from the diffs. My rear breather / filter is tucked in behind the tail lamp. Somehow, gear oil leaked all the way down the inside top of the bed rail on the drivers side. Not a big deal, just hard to clean up, and stinks up the garage.

Once back over, spark plugs were removed, (2 soaked in engine oil), EFI fuse pulled, and engine cranked a few seconds clearing out the oil that got into the cylinders.
Plugs back in, fuse put back in, and she fired right up, blowing out some blue smoke of coarse.

Drove her off the trail, and back to camp, where a few friends and hilift jacks got the old glass out, hole opened up, good enough to drive home. Laughing as the guys' told my to return my 3 day old windshield, because it was cracked ;-)

Trust me, windshields are a GOOD thing. Driving 65mph without one ain't all that.

So, keep your junk strapped down, and all the loose little stuff in a console or container that shuts securily. And of coarse, SEATBELTS. Glad mine was on. Did the job just fine.
