95LS Head Questions...

Hey Gang,

Since I got the truck, I have had the ticking issue to one degree or another. The strange thing is that the ticking doesnt happen when the truck is cold, which from what I understand, is when it should happen. The ticking starts once the truck is warmed up. I only recently tried the procedure described in the how to thread, and it did not work.

I decided to try a full synthetic oil in my Monty with 97000 miles on it. I used Shell Rotella T6 5w40. My thinking was that I would A) use a slightly heavier but better flowing oil in order to ensure that oil was getting where it was needed, and B) if the truck all of the sudden started leaking oil like a sieve, it would cover everything in oil and rust from the NE salt would be thwarted on the engine:-)

Thus far, no leaks, but now the ticking is the worse it's ever been.

So, as it suffers from worn valve stem seals, I am thinking that I should have the heads rebuilt.

Fast Eddy and Hazydayz mentioned sometime ago that they had a preference for the brass/copper lined seals, which is what I plan on using. Does anyone have the part number for them?

Also, can anyone recommend a good shop here in the CT area? I am not familiar with any.

And lastly, does the 24v 3.0 6G72 also have the infamous butterfly valve problem? Or is it not part of my motor?

Any advice for a guy with not a lot of repair skill or resources would sure be much appreciated...

thanks in advance:-)
