I must be thinking about this all wrong. I've never done any major engine work, and I'm used to older V-8 engines. This thing is a different animal altogether.

My initial thinking was to verify that #1 piston is at TDC with the crank lined up with it's timing mark. If I find that is correct, rotate the engine CCW enough to line up the timing marks on cams. Verify how many teeth off the crank is vs. the cams. Lock the cams into place. Loosen the tension on the timing belt. Rotate the crank the proper amount of teeth that it is off to correct the error. Re-tension the timing belt. Rotate engine clockwise several times to ensure all timing marks line up on #1 piston at TDC. This is an over-simplistic view I'm sure, but am I correct or incorrect in my thinking? I apologize for my ignorance on the subject. I'm cramming as much information into me head as fast as I can get it in there.
