t-case chain jumping

I went out today to the mud and I notice that the transfer case chain in jumping when you need the 4wd. I have never changed the chain in a montero but I have done some from jeeps. is it similar process? also i can't find the chain online has anybody done this before, any ideas on where to look for the chain ? any helps would be appreciated.
