alternator producing more than 12volts
      01/17/11 07:00 PM

hello, Last night when I started my truck the alternator was producing the normal voltages, but when i took of the lights started to be extra bright and when i look at the voltmeter it was all the way in 16 ( gen 1 montero) I connected my multimeter to check it by hand and effectively when in idle the car makes 13 volts, but when rev up the volts start to rise all the way to around 16. 5. What are the reasons for this to happen? any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks
