The suspension itself, control arms, knuckle, Etc. are not a direct interchange with a Raider.
The diffs, rotating parts and rear axle other than the ratios being different are essentially the same.
The axle housing itself is dimensionally the same but technically not interchangeable. I expect the spring perches are welded at a different angle.
The steering box is lighter on the truck than a Raider.

Thank you OldColt and airbats801. I found the difference in the clutches on one post here, but I wasn't too worried about that. I was more interested in the axles and suspension components. There is a site, MightyRam50.com, that had some threads talking about swapping Montero axles into Ram 50's to get lockers (limited slip mostly) and they had some good info on the different gear ratios. Going through a search here, I found some threads about using Gen II Montero control arms just like Raider swaps, which seemed to go along with that site's info about front diff swaps too, but none of that had detail on just how much work might have gone in to the swaps. Then there is the fact that it's the same engine (6G72 used in 1990–1993 Dodge Ram 50, 1988–1990 Dodge Raider and 1988–1997 Mitsubishi Pajero according to the wiki list) for the 3.0 V6, same transmission, transfer case... it seemed like the simple engineering solution would have been the same components to match the same running gear.

But then that also seemed too easy. Nothing I am ever interested seems to be designed by those interested in efficiency, simplicity and making my life easier! I knew there had to be a catch somewhere... So on a 1990 3.0L 4x4 Ram 50, what is shared then besides the engine/tranny/t-case? Anything? What are some recommendations for must do mods if I do pick it up and want it to be able to keep up with my '95 SR? There is info when I search here I know, but most of it seems centered around the 4-cyl trucks and much of it still implies that things are interchangeable without going in to much detail about what had to be modified to use the Raider/Montero parts. Anyone with one care to chime in and let me know what they think about having one along side my SR? What am I really getting in to?

EDIT: TOASTY, do you have a link or any additional info on the one for sale? I can't seem to find anything on CL, Auto Trader or Cars.com. I could be interested because I have liked the idea of a diesel for a while now...

'95 Montero SR 3.5L, Trail Gear Sliders, Rugged Ridge XHD Front Bumper, 33x12.5 Duratracs, much more in the works....
