Security system

My brother has a 94 Grand Cherokee limited with 4.0 six and an auto trans. It has been parked for abot 6 months and we tried to get it going today. When we put the battery in the lights started flashing and a SECURITY light was flashing on the dash. He does not have an owners manual so we can't figure out how to turn off the security system. We also can't get the Jeep to run, it will start right up and then die like it's not getting fuel. Could the security system be shutting off the fuel pump or shoud we look for another problem. We did put gas in it. It's a nice Jeep and his only vehicle so we need to get this going.
