Did you check the resistor again? What do you mean by "re-soldering" it? Usually they die and you get another one. I guess you could replace the individual resistors, but...that seems like a lot of work for an electrical piece that a) failed and b) is known to fail.

Other than that, time to start looking at the motor and the associated wiring. You've a short somewhere.
