5 Speed Manual Transmission- 94 Montero

To replace or not to replace: That's the dilemma.

Dealer says they never see this trans in these SUVs. They say "rare." They diagnose the input shaft bearing is failing. Car still drives OK, but noisy, especially when clutch is let out. Some gears are fussy. Been doing this for 2+ years and has gotten some worse.

How complex is this job? Is it easy to screw up? Am I better off disassembling trans, replacing all bearings OR installing remanufactured trans? These are the choices they gave me.

(140K, new tires & brakes, timing belt, water pump -- she's moderately cared for)
