IF the G/F is in Kali, have her call around to the junkyards.

Take yerself over to nix99's junkyard and get a key cylinder and replace it. Google for their website. A locksmith can make a couple keys for you once you take the assembly to them for a cast.

I've taken them off with a small screwdriver and some patience without having a key to turn it to the detent position.

EDIT: Grab a paperclip to stick in the little hole near where the key goes; it's the release. Pry carefully with screwdriver for removal.

We're not junkyard folks here, so get in the Yellow Pages and look at some of your main components in www.car-part.com to get some idea of what stuff is going for.
