Interesting findings.... thanks, guys.
I've used all OE parts in this rebuild so far, with the exception of ACL pistons and Clevite main bearings supplied by NAPA. I don't know yet who makes the timing belts they supply, but after experiencing "suspected" slippage with some serpentine belts, NAPA was the only place I could find a Goodyear GatorBack belt for my blower engine. It worked well.
Since NAPA supplies their own brand along with others, maybe I should refine the question on the belt to ask more specifically:
Are either Gates or Goodyear timing belts of sufficient quality?
Perhaps NAPA can supply one/either of those.
