Hi, Powell -
The taller tower height end is because the Monty/Raider Gen1 valve cover has a baffle step down on one end. I don't know if the later 3.0L engines have different valve covers.... that would make sense to me, and I assume the Caravan valve covers are the same height at both bolt locations. I've read that the Caravan baffles can clog badly and defy cleaning, where I find the Montero/Raider baffles fairly easy to clean - at least they seem to clean up ok.
