4x4Wire's TrailTalk Forums: The *official* 7.5" Supra LSD into a IFS diff thread.

Well, I got more done today on this then I ever did.

I put the LSD together finally so its ready to go.

Here are some pics of the washers I used to shim the springs. They aren't a perfect fit but I think they'll work, there are no rocks to crawl here so I'm gonna take my chances.

Here is a pic of the washers going in its pretty simple stuff as you can see. There isn't much to the LSD just be sure to take things appart carefully and keep parts in order and marked if you plan to store them appart for a while.

Next is a series of pics of the LSD going together. As you can see there is a bit of wear on some of the clutch pads but I took it to a dealer and a tranny shop and they both said they were in fine shape.

Here is a pic of one of the clutch pads, still a lot of meat on there.

Make sure when you put it together that nothing is out of place and that you aren't gonna crush anything inside besides the springs.

Locktite and 57# of torque on these puppies.

And taadaa

SO that takes care of the LSD. Now onto the diff itself. I didn't take a lot of pics of this as its pretty much already available in my preious posts. The LSD fits fine with no modification necessary, it seems like Toyota used the same diff on our trucks as the Supras just with different castings outside for mounting.

Once I got it together the way I wanted it here were the measurments.

-Runout .002 (FSM says thats fine)
-Backlash .003 too tight so I used another shim on the ring side of the LSD and I got .008, too loose so I tried another one and I came up with .007 which is pretty close to the .0065 that was originally in there and is within FSM specs so I went with it.
-No side to side play I hope thats a good thing.

Now for the patterns. IDK if these are good or not but someone please chime in on this to let me know if they will be OK or how I should adjust things.

If this is all good then I'm ready to turn my attention to the rear and will likely not instal these till I work out my engine cooling problem so it will be at least a month as deer and moose are almost in season.
