Air Rifle
I have the Diana model 34, in .177 caliber. I didn't pay near that much for mine new in January. It feels like a real gun. It's heavy, but weighted right. It's setup for a scope, but I didn't spend the money. I ended up being talked into this rifle. I had intended to get a Crosman. I could have got a similiar Crosman, with scope, that shot 200 fps higher for similiar cash. The older gentleman behind the counter said HE owned a Diana, and loved it. And I think it's Ruger that makes the barrels, and I just like German made stuff. Anyway, it's been a great gun so far. Frank's right on with his aiming instructions. I do have to say that the only other air rifle I've owned was a cheap Crosman...the kind you have to pump 10 times..mostly plastic. It did kill a lot of critters before it died. I have a pretty nice Beeman air pistol, but I suck with handguns, and I didn't like seeing squirrells flopping around the yard.
