I just called the machine shop - they haven't done the work yet, so it'll be another week before anything gets started.
No problem on the colors - I'll get the paint. You won't see much red with only the block painted - except from underneath. Other parts for color consideration:
Oil pan
Oil filter adapter
Lower intake
Upper plenum
