A third on a lift-- doesn't cost that much extra to take your walls up a few more feet either. Friend of mine has 14 ft walls; lift uprights are secured to the floor; this is seismic zone 3 here in Interior Alaska.

The hole in the floor also increases your liability for some idjit (including self injury).
