Why go through all that trouble and still be IFS with limited suspension travel.

All of the situations where I think this would be an advantage a solid axle, especially a solid portal axle would be a better fit. You could drop a set of mog or Volvo axles under there cheaper and easier than a custom portal would cost.

In situations where IFS really shines, high speed stuff, and on-road, the truck would be drastically hindered from the extra unsprung weight, and the higher COG.
