Quote: My axle came off an '89 runner and everything seems the same except the cables are shorter and will not reach each wheel. I have to order the rear sextion of the e-brake cable to make it work on my '85 runner.
My friend wrecked his 4runner was thinking about taking the rear end putting perch's on it and putting it in place of the 4cyl axle...
I am assuming from the red highlighted portion above that he is using a 90-95 4Runner axle which has a totally different e-brake cable system and backing plates due to the coil sprung 5 link in the back.
If the assumption is correct the swap has some different issues than you would have had using a 89 4Runner axle that came with leaf springs.
I thought that the poster would like to hear about some possible issues rather than "I did it with a different year axle than yours into a different year of rig than yours and it worked good"
