If I ever try this again, I hope someone will shoot me so I don't have to do the job.
Dadrab (Ed) and his boys, Ben and Zack came over yesterday afternoon, expecting me to have the old transmission ready to pull and finish the swap rough-in. I wasn't quite ready for that to happen. After several much appreciated hours of prep work help, reality dictated removal of more than I anticipated in order to get to the top bolts on the bellhousing. So, after removing the upper plenum, we called it a day with the idea I would get those bolts out today.
So, I've now drained the coolant, cut off the stuck heater hoses, found the fuel lines in the way, removed those, removed one of the 2 upper bolts and the other is stuck tight with not enough room to swing a hammer on a wrench and if I go much longer the bolt's gonna round off - put a cheater pipe on the wrench and there's not enough room to use it - now realizing the lower plenum has to come out as well.
I took a trip to Sears for a longer 17mm wrench, but no luck. Now my wife's eyeing the garage where I pulled my truck in at an angle to get more working room and told her I'd appreciate it if she would park outside for a couple of days. I think she sees that the time is about up and the job's getting bigger.
What fun!
