Hey there, I did consider a fuel efficient car but, I get plenty of snow and have a 23percent grade (that goes through some switch backs)that I have to climb on the way home. The neighbor bought a Subaru Outback,It is parked over a quarter of a mile away right now and he walked home because of the snow.It has been down there for three days now(it spent plenty of time down there last year also). So the fuel efficient cars are out of the question for me.I have a '84 Datsun 4x4 Xtracab 2.4 that I drive to work right now and it gets 20mpg with a million miles on it and a worn out carburator. My friends have known about the 4runner that I bought for a while. They knew the guy only wanted $1500 and it was super nice. But, they hate the 3.0 so much they wanted nothing to do with it. And several of them own 3.0's in P/U's.Most of my friends run 22R's with anywhere between 33 and 37" tires. And they dont complain about the power or mileage. But, they are not "Hot Rods",they are built for 4wheelin'.My buddies that run 22R's enjoy going up in the snow, sand or mud allday and comeing home with over half a tank of $fuel$ .Thanks for the help----Tom
Is he stuck because the snow is too deep? If not it is likely because he needs some better tires.
There are lots of other fuel efficient 4X4's that fall more into the car category but have more clearance.
