Thanks, Matt - glad to see you're still around after selling your rig - hope you stay around here.
You're right - I don't care how long it takes for me to learn enough to get this right the first time. I feel comfortable (so far) that if I ever do this again I could do it in a fraction of the time this one is taking - but I need to stop at every question mark long enough to understand the factors that create the problem so I know the thing inside and out, backwards and forward. I also (like now) need to know whether a perceived problem really is a problem and only experience (or a mentor like yourself) can tell you that. I've had these assemblies out and apart so many times I've lost count, but each time I learn a little more about how to do the job efficiently - if you know how to get to the right product in the end, it makes the middle work easier.... it exercises your brain more than your muscles.
Do you agree that if the center support bolts are centered I don't need to remove that or anything before it?
I'll pull the stacks back out tomorrow and see if I can figure it out, but that nagging feeling of so much conflicting data on specs is bugging me.... again. When I get some time, I'm going to publish another set of specs and as-built data, but include all of the conflicting data so you can see what I mean - it's really crazy.
What about the sealant for under the heads of the oil pump installation bolts - hi-temp RTV or Permatex No.2 or something else?
