the 9" is cool because the third member is removable for professional rebuilding and leaves options for trusses open that aren't with a case back, but the 9" has screwy ground clearance and funny driveline angles that leave your driveshaft exposed. the 9" is a time tested strong axle but have also heard that unless you're running a spool that the case is so small that a strong locking planetary system won't fit. i'd research it better before jumping into it, and might just go for the "bolt in" 44.
