Update

Well the Barney song seamed to help abit. But I really think it was the ratchet strap that was the kicker. I tied the ratchet strap around the rear transmission mount and the other end to the front cross member. Then I ratcheted it down until there was a fair bit of tension on it and started wiggling the transmission around. And it popped right in.

I got the transmission mounts squared. I reinstalled the driver side mount with the driver side mount on the passenger side and the passenger side on the driver. And everything seamed to line up better that with them in there “correct” positions, which moved every thing too far forward (about 2" to 3”). So I’m not really not sure what’s up with that?

I got all the transmission mount bolts in/ the bell housing bolts/ starter/ all the belts on/ all the vacuum tubes on. Along with most everything else in the bay.

I still have to figure out the grounds that are mounted on the firewall right behind the head. I’m not sure quite where they mount. There are three ground straps (the larger one i mounted to the bell housing mount bolt) and the other two don't seam to have a definite spot to mount to. Any advice?

Also I have some wires; one large ground and the other connects up to the wiring harness, that I don’t know where they go. They are the pics with the red “?” in them. I’m also not sure what wire is the negative side of the tach, and what wire is the AC compressor wire. They are the bullet connectors on the pics with the “?”. There is also a bullet connector at the very end of the intake manifold wiring harness connector (almost to the plug end) that is not connected to anything.



I have yet to bolt the exhaust manifold output to the rest of the exhaust (3 bolts). And I still have to connect the rear driveshaft (4 bolts). I also have to install my new $45 eBay CD player. And I have to fill up the AC compressor oil and gas. And drain and then fill the gas tank. Change out the fuel filter. Along with setting the ignition timing. But other than that I’m looking like I might get this thing driving in two or three days. Fingers crossed.
