Matt - I'm not sure because I'm waiting to pick up all of the parts when the correct torque converter arrives - hopefully today. Quote:
The teflon seal on the tip of the input shaft would normally have a set of tools for installing and "sizing it"
Do you mean the tools should be included in the kit? Quote:
There is usually a pilot/stretcher, an installer and a resizer/shrinker. The process can be done w/ a pick and some patience. You can use the convertor as the shrinker.
Are you referring to the teflon seal on the output shaft nose or the three seals on the other end. I think you're suggesting that the shaft can be inserted as far as it'll go, then use a couple of picks to "shrink" the seals one at a time so the shaft goes in.... correct? I guess I'll figure it out when I get that far..... I'm probably getting ahead of myself.
Kevin - thanks - I removed that one ring seal with an ice pick which promptly slipped and spread the ring. I'm hoping some new ones come in the kit, but I don't know if they can be installed without spreading them to the point of stretch. I need to get all the parts, sort 'em out and start putting it back together and see where the stumbling blocks are instead of worrying about them in advance.
