I can see why you'd want to do that with the large turbo to get it up to speed for power-on runs. If I boost the 3.0L, it'll be with an Eaton unit which is positive displacement and provides boost right off-idle if/when manifold vacuum is dumped. I think I'd be heating the transmission and wasting power to not have it hook up as soon as possible.
I think we're on the same page for both setups.
