Ray -
Sorry, I guess I'm not paying attention.
Matt/Kevin - I just found something that didn't look right and went back to re-read these statements:
Quote:
This is the most difficult piston to remove in the A372. The spring compressor pushes down in the retainer plate, then the snap ring in the middle is removed. Then the load is removed from the retainer plate. The springs then fall out and you chase them across the floor(10-12 of them). Then you find the feed hole to the piston and apply compressed air to pop it out. This piston can get bound up easy so do not apply too much air, it will jam it in there real tight.
Quote:
That same piston set tends to gall the case up if any debris gets into it. Look below the snap ring groove at the seal surface for any dammage. Right behind it is the output shaft bushing.
I don't think I've removed all of the reverse piston assembly - got the snap-ring and the retainer ring with springs, but that's all. There's still something in there that appears to be a piston (it has the rear bushing set into it). I found two holes just inside the pan flange that seem to want to move that piece when I put some air pressure in them, but I only have 15 psi on it and it's not coming out - probably would have been better if I had gotten it out before I washed it. How much pressure can I put on it and is there a trick to getting it out? Cover one hole? I'm leery of grabbing it with pliers.
