I disagree. If there's 1000lbs of force on the idler arm, the bushings are going to feel 1000lbs no matter what. The arm may bend more without the brace, but the amount of force felt by the bushings is the same.

Think of it this way, you see those guys in the olympics lift huge weights...the bar is bending but they still have to lift the same amount of weight.

What might be happening is the rod contacting the bushings might not be bending as much so it rubs them differently.
