Update;

I’ve been having “Fun” cleaning up all the odds and ends parts for the engine. I’ve been using parts cleaning solvent, and a cleaning solvent that is not meant to be used in a parts washer. I’m not sure what’s in it, but its powerful stuff. It managed to burn several layers of skin off my hands, take off some of the hair on my forearms, and leave a permanent smell imbedded in my hands. And that's with me only handling the parts (with bare hands) once they had been removed from the cleaner and rinsed in water.

I’ve got almost all the parts cleaned and ready for painting. I think a nice light layer of primer is needed so I’ll be doing that later in the week after everything is prepped.

Any suggestions of a good primer and paint?

I was thinking about using the red engine paint. But I’m not sure that’s the best choice, since it’s meant to be used on “high heat” metals.

I think I’m going to leave the aluminum naked, all buffed up and shinning.

The oil pan is steel so I’ll have to paint that. Any thoughts on a good color that matches the rest of the paint? I was thinking red again, but I’m not sure. Not too much goes with the sea foam green paint job...
