Darn, Monica, that is a nice truck too. Worth fixing.
Too bad you don't live in Denver; our ex-Russian club member, Oleg Kazantsev, would fix it and it would be right. Soon after I met him he had cut a $150,000 Porsche in half to repair it - repaired to factory specs too, with factory repair parts. He does that often for dealers around town, and rebuilds 4Runners for his own resale. I usually run away from rebuilds, but I would buy any of Oleg's rebuilds with confidence. A real craftsman, and super guy. Said all that to say this: it can be fixed, and right.
That said, do the cab swap. I noticed a sufficient quantity of testosterone in that group. Just add beer and pizza and it's as good as done (make sure the pizzas outnumber the beers until the end, though). Us menfolk are good for something. $300 is a fine price for a good cab. Do it!
