Okay, I'll concede that the ASE certificate has some value and it's holders can read! Josh, your point is close to what I intended: "When certified, however, I'm not qualified to rebuild an automatic tranny, nor repair or diagnose every car/truck ever made either. Years in the field and having seen/worked on/studied/read about lots of different vehicles is what makes a quality tech." To me, it's all about trust. You need to know your mechanic to trust him.
