Toyotas to avoid

I figured this would be the best section to ask such a question...

I am ready to rid myself of my old rig, and buy myself a Toy. Nothing too new or pricey, mind you. I was just wondering if there are any particular models and/or features that I should stay away from.

I'm mostly interested in adding doubler setups, and have read that with some transfer cases, a doubler cannot be added. Can anyone shed some light on this, or did I misread whatever I read?
