The Cat5 cable that gets pulled through the ceilings from the wiring closet to the office, etc. is a solid wire. The Cat 5 that goer from your wall jack to the back of the PC is usually stranded. Be sure you know what you're getting. I don't think you want solid for this job. Also, assuming the Gen II is like the Quest harness that I tried to save, there will be some wires of larger sizes. SO keep an eye out for that. Lastly there were some wires on the Quest that had a shield/ground on them. DOn't know how important that would be in the cabin versus the engine bay. Either way, though, you'd have to maintain the connection itseld even if it wasn't necessary to actually shield it.
