Just having some fun with numbers...
I've been driving on 31s since I got the truck with 95,000mi in Nov of 2000. Since that time, I've put 77,000mi on the truck. Using Kevin's speed disparity quotient of 1.109 for 31" tires and 4.625 final gearing, I calculate that after 77,000mi of travel my odometer reading is off by ~8,393mi or 10,900mi for every 100,000mi traveled!!!
Guess I missed a couple of oil changes.
Now even with the 24 toothed gear installed, it's still not perfect. I calculate a speed disparity quotient of 1.023. For comparison, if I had made the gear swap 77,000mi ago, my odometer reading would still be off by ~1,791mi by now! My odometer reading will now only be off by 2.3mi for every 100mi traveled, or ~2,327mi for every 100,000mi traveled. Better for sure. :)
I think that that number should get better for you 33" guys swapping to the 22 toothed speedo gear.
Enjoy!
