Parts needed for winch mount Pre-runner tube bumper:
2 or 3" Sch 40 galvanized pipe (Main bumper bar) (stronger than black pipe, cheaper than tube)
---or---
2 or 3" .125" wall, steel HREW or DOM tubing (HREW costs less, and is more than adequate. All tube weighs less than pipe.)
1.5" or 2" Galvanized pipe
---or---
1.5" or 2" HREW or DOM .125 wall steel tube (upper hoop)
3/8" thick steel strap, 2" wide, for mounting the bumper, six points on frame
Required bolts (3/4" Grade 5 or Grade 8, or metric equivelants)
1/4" plate, for mounting winch.
It'll be around $200 in material for a prototype, but the material cost will be greatly reduced w/larger numbers. Sell them painted, or unpainted (powdercoating is the expensive part, I'd stay away from that, except as a special order, which will generally run the customer $150 extra! If group buys on powder coating, the price drops, as it's charged per lot, not per part). Labor will reduce w/larger volume too. It's still less time to build, than a Bull bar type bumper. Plus, EVERYONE makes bull bar bumpers! Dare to be different!
