Ya, that's most likely right. Just 1" from the spacers and about 2" from the torsion bars. It's just like the old Rancho 3" IFS lift. The upper A-arm spaced the ball joint down about an 1" to 1.5" and the rest was gained by cranking the T-bars.

1" to 1.5" of lift up front should be plenty to clear 33x12.5s as long as the right backspacing is used and the front mudflaps are removed. Cutting the front fenders or using fiberglass fenders will really make a huge difference as well.

Another mod I'd do is add the bolt on Downey shock hoop so a wider range of longer stroke shocks can be used and go with really low profile bumpstops.

Yep, uncranking the bars is probably not a good idea. Especially if you like running fast over rough stuff. That's the entire purpose of the thicker torsion bars. But for the slow stuff, it should increase flexability.
