I have a blue top marine 1000cca Optima battery. It will jumps start frosty the snowman all the way on the north pole with cables from texas. I wouldn't trade that battery for anything out there. It's about five or six years old and gets neglected more than anything I've ever had. From sitting long periods half charged to running and starting big block chrysler HP engines. I can count on that battery, can tip it over, I can let it bounce in the trunk of a car, it stayes clean and it doesn't leak. I can set it on my carpet and not worry about it. I can even eat spagettie off of it. I can take it on the bus and there isn't much fuss. Sam I am. And a great carry handle also.

If your lookin for reasons to not buy an Optima or an AGM battery, no need to talk to me, as I think your wasting your money on the others, unless you just need a battery to get the car started and sold.

I was with a friend in his Ford and he had to get out and monkey with his connections to get started at the gas station. That just doesn't happen with my blue or orange top, and I surely don't miss those days either. I don't miss the stupid little red and green felt things either. I don't miss the holes in my work clothes. I surely don't miss the regular cleaning and rush to the garden hose with battery acid on my hands.

Don't need to point me to any websites to appreciate the OPTIMA spiral cell batteries.

FWIW, according to Optima the only difference between their blue top and the yellow top are the terminal locations.

I've gone through a yellow top myself in under 3 years.

My battery location is rearward on the passenger side (v6 engine).

Initially Optima was willing to warranty my battery but w/ the pro-rated warranty which brought the cost well above the cost of a new battery. I opted to get a Nautilus Marine/Starting battery instead.

About 8 weeks later (last Oct/Nov) Optimal gave me a call and offered me a new yellow top. A few weeks later the new yellow top showed up at my work.

Today, that yellow top is sitting in my hallway closet still in the box. Not that I don't trust it, but I no longer believe it's the end all to batteries. It has its limitations and I guess I've exceeded mine. Looks like so has Lloyd.

I'll be putting the Yellow top inside at some point once I get the correct gear and the ambition to do it.
