4x4Wire's TrailTalk Forums: Off Topic! Who are you guys (and gals) anyway?

Well, let's see...

The name's Parrish (not related to religion, people either forget it immediately or remember it forever). I'm 19, going to Humboldt State University in Arcata, NorCal ('bout an hour south of Crescent City). This is my 3rd semester here, I think I'm a sophomore or something, currently majoring in Computer Information Systems. No woman in my life. Surprise.

I'm originally from Placerville, CA, which is about an hour down Highway 50 from the Rubicon Trail. Lived there all my life, and still spend summers there with my parents.

My truck is an 1987 Xtra Cab DLX (I need the extra cab, I'm 6'5"), purchased new by my parents in August of 87. It remained theirs until the last day of my Junior year of high school when they purchased an '01 Tacoma TRD and gave the '87 to me. It is in damn near perfect shape. I learned to drive on this truck and got my license with this truck. I also rode to kindergarten, grade, and middle school in it. Since Senior year of HS it has been my daily driver. I have done lots of fun (and usually stupid) things with it, but no tickets or accidents yet, knock on wood. I have no money of my own, so I am eternally grateful to my parents for paying for my gas, insurance, and maintenance until I can get a job and support myself. As my screen name suggests, it is largely stock, though finally modified some. The camper shell, stereo (out of an '01 Camry), speakers (4), SR5 Cluster, fog lights, 2nd tow hook, and 2nd oh sh*t handle are the sum total of the mods. I do have plans for it, but I don't anticipate having the money to do any of them for a few years still. Although I did run it without the muffler last weekend which was pretty cool

I don't get to do much wheeling, but that's probably good as I'm still quite inexperienced. Mostly I'll take it out to the beaches up here, or sometimes the logging roads a little inland. I have yet to find anyone to wheel with locally, so I can't do anything where I am likely to get stuck.

I should mention that despite living in Humboldt, I am not a goddamn tree-hugging hippie. While I do think the environment is important and should be protected, people take it waaaay too far. I think that the advent of wheeling clubs that follow the Tread Lightly guidelines are perfect examples of how people can have fun with their vehicles and not destroy things at the same time. Also despite the reputation of this school and area, I don't smoke pot. Just never felt the urge. Drinking on the other hand.... Well, hell, it IS college after all

. But I will NEVER drive drunk.

I'm probably forgetting something, but I'll leave it at that for now.
