OK I'll play. David. 45 going on 26. I'm also English and moved here in '66 with my family. BS Engineering Physics (CU Boulder). PhD Atmospheric Science (UW Seattle). Research scientist, but for the last few years I've been having more fun playing with computers so am now doing mostly Unix systems administration stuff. I had a wild youth, but always did what needed to get done. I've mellowed with age, but not as much as some. Still do what has to get done. One wife (23 years together, 15 married). Two kids, Girl 13, Boy 11. Boy loves wheeling, girls do not. Three step kids, all adults now.
I started buying tools, and playing with engines, when I was 14. Bought my first car when I was 15 (1963 Alfa Romeo Guilietta Spider - I still miss that car), and had it on the road when I was old enough to drive. Also have owned 68 Mercury commuter (390 with tow package - basically a truck with a station wagon body). Kawasaki 250. Opel Manta. 57 chevy PU. Kawasaki 440. 76 VW Rabbit. Several different bicyles. Currently 89 corrola all-trac wagon and 94 xtracab PU. I bought of both these new, and have been wheeling the PU since day one. I used to love working on cars and engines. Then I did it because I had to. Then only did custom mods myself, and paid to have routine stuff done. Now I'm leaning back towards doing it all myself.
I'm in two 4x4 clubs. Yankee Toys, and North Country Off Roaders. Also wheel with several different groups of guys outside the clubs (most of them were either with NCOR in the past, or, will likely be joining soon. Some were from before there was a YT). I like to camp, fish, hike, have fun. Used to fly remote control sailplanes alot, now play with remote control trucks with my son. Like to garden, and drink beer (pale ale). Listen mostly to reggae music. I'm trying to collect money and hobbies so I'll be ready to retire.
Well that is a pretty good core dump. I think I'll stop now.
