I'm 58, been married to the same woman for 32 years, no kids, one dalmation "Max", BS degree in electrical engineering, retired product development engineer from IBM, did contract work back at IBM for 4-5 years, did "nothing" for a couple of years. I was in the Navy for 3 years active duty during the Vietnam era.

Also a ham radio operator and have built a number of repeater systems..

Now working for a friend of mine who started his own business about 14 years ago supplying emergency power systems (generators, DC power plants for phone systems, unterruptable power systems, etc) to typically large companies, universities, hospitals, government type customers..

Interesting work.... sometimes doing computer stuff in the office, spreadsheets for customer data, a little actual EE type stuff now and then researching equipment for bids and for the last couple of weeks... doing welding and steel fabrication...

All the equipment for power systems is heavy, electronic type stuff that is difficult to move, but must be protected in transit.. We are outfitting a specially built enclosed trailer to haul this stuff to customer sites.. I'm building a small scale gantry crane inside the trailer that can lift equipment and move it anywhere inside the trailer.

Been a Toyota owner since 1971... and only had three of my own.. a '71, an '85 Cressida and now the 2000 4Runner.. Wife has an '88 Camry that's still running strong. As all you folks know, they last forever if taken care of..

Our 4Runner is for moderate off roading only and for serious road tripping.. Just completed a 6000 mile trip out west that I'll write some articles about as soon as I can. For more serious off roading, I've helped a friend (welding) build up a '68 Bronco and have got some good right seat/crew time in exchange..
