Ray,

Every big trailer that I've towed with a brake has an actuator in the neck/shaft of the trailer.

Cool. Do you know how is the 5th wire wire hooked up to the car? Is that wired to the reverse lights to disable the brake? Is that something where I need to buy a Trailer Brake control like one of these?

I know a friend of ours was able to tow it using a standard 4 wire hitch plug (using an jerry rigged adapter for the lights).

TIA,

Ray

Update on 5th wire hookup... I've learned from the boat dealer that sold them the trailer that the 5th connector is connectet to the reverse light. It disengages the trailer brake when in reverse.
