If this is your only vehicle, and you don't know anything about engine swaps, etc, then I'd respectfully submit that a diesel swap is not your best course of action - not what you want to hear, but there it is... I'd suggest finding a cheap car, etc, and then you can take your time and do the swap properly, learning as you go...OR, find an OE replacement motor. You're swapping a diesel that was available in the US/Canada in the early 80's, or from Japan, etc. You're doing it on a vehicle that didn't come with it in the US or Canada. And you've admitted yourself that you don't know how to do it. At the very least this doesn't sound like a plan that can be rushed, or plunged into...
Hate to be a nay-sayer - I created this diesel forum, and love them all, but what you're proposing is not a one day project.
