Bare with me, this is going to be a lengthy answer, but your solution should be in here somewhere.

Since the 3.4 is from the GM V60 degree family,(2.8,3.1,3.4), maybe you can find one of the other engines and vehicles in your local junkyard which might have that. Here is a reference link to the other engines. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_60%C2%B0_V6_engine

at the price.
