Latest finding. I was about to order a rebuild kit for the fuel pump today, but figured I would do one more test. I took a spare piece of fuel hose, hooked it strait to the fuel fitting on the engine, put the other end into a Gatorade bottle filled with fuel. Started it up, rough at first then smoothed out. No alarm. Sucked fuel like a drunken sailor....So looks like problem is an air leak on the boat side...
Now that I have verified the fuel pump has vacuum...another question. I know these two strokes consume a lot of fuel, but just idling in the driveway in the course of about 10 minutes sucked up 2 quarts of fuel. I know these motors are thirsty but is that the norm? wow! Fuel pump definately not bad..Maybe I'm just out of gas..Put in approx 10 Gal in each tank thinking that would be good to go for the day on small lake...Fuel gauge works but with 10 Gal still barely above "e"
