I've been searching for a pre95 donor vehicle for a 4.3 swap for my $100 Montero project. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a good low mileage donor at a good price that is close enough and I don't particularly want a used engine that I can't see running. I started to explore just rebuilding my existing 3.0. Anyway, I was looking on eBay, and a seller had some brand new 6g72 3.0 long blocks for Hyundai Sonata's on there... for $700.00! That should be cheaper than a rebuild!
After considering it, and researching the plausibility of using it, I ordered one and there is still one left if anyone else is in the market for a new engine. I'll be keeping it relatively simple and sticking with the 12V SOHC 3.0 for now on this project.
I'll document the progress and differences between the Monty and Hyundai versions as I swap things over to the long block.
