Question about three different diesels with three different oil filters.
      06/20/12 07:57 PM

I have two 4D55's and one 4D56 and each one takes a different oil filter. I have a 1984 Dodge Ram 50 with a 4D55 that is parked because it needs bearings in the trans. That one takes a large black Mitsubishi duel element filter of which I have about six. I have another 4D55 on the floor in the garage with a broken head. That one takes a pretty standard 7 dollar oil filter. Then the 4x4 Dodge Ram 50 I'm driving now has a different filter yet. It is a fairly large filter and also a duel element filter. That one is a Car-quest filter number 85067.
I was also thinking of switching the oil filter housings from the engine that I have the six filters for. Are the blocks the same so that I would be able to do that? I could take the standard filter housing from the one with the broken head but I really like the idea of the large duel filter and I have six of them. Any Ideas would be appreciated. Later, Rick
