Raider axles in a D50 ?
      05/21/12 12:56 PM

Recently picked up a pretty nice (very solid by Mich standards) 89' D50 4x4 (2.6 auto) for my 16 year old. The 2.6 had a spun bearing so we transplanted my "spare" from a 87' Raider. Runs like a top now, but was dismayed as we were about to embark on our next mission (lsd rear) that the gear ratio is different than the Raider (4.22 vs 4.62)

Now I'm debating... swap the entire front and rear end assemblies, or just pull the LSD unit and put that in the D50. I like the idea of better gears since there is a plan to move up to 31"s'. At the same time, I dread the added amt of grunt work given there is nothing wrong with the axles in the truck. Thoughts? Is the work worth the gain? 90% commuter with weekend trail/off-road duty...

88' 2.6 Raider (organ donor)
89' 2.6 Power Ram [D50] Jr's wheels
