I'm in a bind. Please Help.
      04/21/12 08:55 PM

I have a 2000 Sportage 4dr 2wd and have my right front suspension mostly disassembled now, trying to install new struts. I have done this before on Toyotas and had No problem at all. With the KIA the upper tower is surrounding over half the upper part of the coil spring so the spring compressors will not go on opposing sides of the spring to properly and safely compress it. I see no way to pull it out without compressing it. I tried to lower the lower swing arm down low enough (by unbolting the ball joint and dropping the swing arm/wishbone down as far as possible) , but I dont think I would be able to re-assemble it that way anyway.

There must be another type of compressor or there is another technique I am not aware of. I am about ready to re-assemble it and take it to the shop and have this done by someone else. I don't want to do that... it's not my style ! Can one of you KIA Experts help me with some of your wisdom PLEASE ? I can't let this thing whip me.

Any assistance would certainly be appreciated guys !
