I wasn't suggesting you buy one, but I think the custom center design is worth considering. I am unsure if you can "get a d44 and a SR and just and just put the tubes in the SR". The SR axle is a stamped housing. The Dana 44 has a cast iron center with pressed in axle tubes. Two different setups.
All I'm saying is its not going to be as "easy" as you think. That diamond axle design combines a stamped style housing with pressed in axle tubes.
