Oh yeah, all 8 points of contact are melted together. Speaking to people, I've heard from one end of the spectrum to the other. "Weld enough to lock the spiders'' to "fill that whole damn opening with metal, you won't break it then." I had to laugh at that dude, definately a neck! Like I started it's a spare. I have an extra complete front end so whatever happens, happens.
